How to Go 7-0: A Strategy Guide
Going 7-0 in the World Cup draft simulator means winning every single match in the tournament — three group stage games and four knockout rounds. It's the equivalent of a perfect World Cup campaign, and it's not easy. Here's how to maximize your chances.
Understanding the Simulation Engine
The match simulator calculates your team strength from six dimensions: Pace (PAC), Shooting (SHO), Passing (PAS), Dribbling (DRI), Defending (DEF), and Physical (PHY). But these aren't weighted equally across positions.
Attackers are evaluated primarily on shooting, dribbling, and pace. Midfielders depend heavily on passing and dribbling. Defenders are judged on defensive stats and physicality. A 90-rated forward in a centre-back slot contributes far less than you'd expect.
Era adjustment coefficients give modern players a slight statistical edge (2022 players get a 1.04× multiplier vs 0.85× for 1970 players). This means a 2022 player with 80 DEF effectively plays at 83, while a 1970 player with 80 DEF plays at 68. It matters.
Formation Choice: 4-3-3 Is Your Best Friend
For 7-0 attempts, 4-3-3 is the most forgiving formation. Three central midfield slots accept a wide range of player types (CM, CDM, CAM all fit). The front three (RW, ST, LW) can accommodate many forward and wing players. And the four-defender backline is the most common shape in World Cup history, so your draft is more likely to produce compatible defenders.
4-2-3-1 is viable but riskier — you need two dedicated CDMs, which is a narrow player pool. 4-4-2 demands two strikers and two wide midfielders, which can leave you scrambling.
Draft Priority Order
Not all positions are created equal in the draft. Here's the priority order based on simulation impact and draft scarcity.
Priority 1: Goalkeeper. There's usually only 1 GK per squad, so when you get a good one, take them. The gap between a 72 and an 82 keeper is massive over 7 matches.
Priority 2: Centre-backs. You need 2, and strong CBs dramatically reduce goals against. Look for players with 80+ DEF and PHY.
Priority 3: Central midfielders. High PAS and DRI midfielders drive the engine. Zidane, Xavi, Modric — these players swing tournaments.
Priority 4: Strikers and wingers. You need goals, but one elite striker (Ronaldo, Müller, Mbappé) can carry the attack alone.
Priority 5: Full-backs. Important but less impactful. A decent RB/LB with 70+ stats is fine.
When to Re-roll
You get 2 re-rolls per game. Use them when the offered squad has no player that fits your remaining positions. If you need a CB and the squad is all forwards and midfielders, re-roll. If you need a GK and there isn't one, re-roll.
Don't waste re-rolls chasing star names. A Brazil 2002 squad offers Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, sure — but if you already have three forwards, that Brazil squad is less valuable than a Germany squad with a strong CB.
The 7-0 Checklist
- GK rated 78+
- At least one CB with 85+ DEF
- At least one midfielder with 85+ PAS
- At least one forward with 85+ SHO
- No position left empty or filled with a misfit
- Average team overall above 75
- Favor 2000s–2020s players for era adjustment bonus
